This biosignal acquisition system allows the discrete recording of electrophysiological changes (e.g., EEG, ECG, EMG) from inconspicuous electrode positions around the ears.
The system is an extension of the OpenBCI biosignals acquisition platform. Therefore, two major parts make up the recording system:
These biosignal amplifiers allow 16-channel recordings with 125 Hz sampling rate (250 Hz with SD card recordings) and 24 bit resolution.
The boards can be purchased from OpenBCI directly.
To power the board, you can use a LiPo battery with JST connector, for example with 500mAh (~6h recordings). These require an inexpensive charger.
These components enable the Cyton+Daisy data collection with around-the-ear cEEGrids.
Each kit includes:
Need more cEEGrid electrodes for your project? We offer the Open-cEEGrid (gold-plated) replacements!
Worried about the recording suitability? This recent research highlights lower impedance of gold (Au) electrodes in the 1-1000Hz region than Ag/AgCl (but higher impedances <1Hz). At the same time, gold electrodes are known to polarize which can make ERP recordings difficult.
Therefore, we recommend our gold-plated Open-cEEGrids for oscillatory EEG (frequency band power) and EMG recordings.
